About Hannah

Before I created Blooms & Buttercream, I was passionately taking on a number of weddings, almost too passionately, for my friends and family while holding a corporate 9-5 job in Environmental Science. It wasn’t until I fine-tuned my design skills, and realized I wanted to take myself seriously, did I bring Blooms & Buttercream to life.

My very first job, at the age of 16, was in a greenhouse and flower shop back in my hometown. Starting out, I took on a huge responsibility to do the flowers for my best friend’s wedding, while maid of honor. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or too much wine, but I was hooked after I made her dad cry from my designs. From there, I took on many jobs with various designers to learn all about the art of making hand tied bouquets, boutonnieres, large wedding arches, and other detailed floral pieces.

I enjoy working with clients and making them laugh and sharing with them where I get my inspiration. I enjoy spending time with family and going on long hikes, especially with my goofy dog, Merlin.

As an environmental scientist, yes I’m still doing that (thank you, student loans), I take pride in making my business eco-friendly. B&B recycles and composts all of our plant matter and floral boxes!

ABOUT CASSIE

I’ve had interests in many design-related opportunities. First and foremost, I’m an Interior Architect, now accelerating my cake baking and creating business to further broaden my horizons. While I enjoy working at my 8-5 commercial interior design job, I love to create and decorate cakes. Design and crafting has always been in my life, from designing and constructing my childhood family homes to designing the most amazing office spaces for people to utilize everyday. My design background plays a great role in my cake decorating style, level of detail, craft, and perfectionism. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love cake!

I‘ve always said I was born in the wrong decade.  I love antiques and big band music.  My design style attempts to blend antiquated charm with an updated look. Vintage influences can be seen in the majority of my cakes, not to mention the old school taste of buttercream. Nothing is more nostalgic, or sweeter, than good old-fashioned buttercream frosting!

As a hobby in high school, I started taking decorating classes to perfect my craft and learn different techniques. I started to make all of my family’s birthday and celebration cakes. People seem to always ask for my cakes! After I completed my 3 sister-in-laws wedding cakes, Blooms and Buttercream took off from there! My most requested cake flavors from the family: maple- bacon-bourbon or cinnamon roll cake. I also work well with fruit flavors!

My cakes are always from scratch and in my own home kitchen. I take pride in being natural and loving our earth by composting all egg shells and scraps as well as recycling any and all components.
